How to Improve Reading, Writing and English Grammar at School
Reading, writing and grammar are skills that grow with steady practice. Students do not need to learn everything at once. A short daily routine can help them use English with more confidence at school.
Read a little every day
Choose a short story, article or textbook passage. Read it slowly and note a few new words. Try to guess the meaning from the sentence, then check a dictionary. After reading, explain the main idea in your own words.
Practise writing
Write a short paragraph about a familiar topic. Use simple sentences first. Then connect ideas with words such as “because,” “however,” “also” and “therefore.” Check spelling, punctuation and whether each sentence makes sense.
Learn grammar in context
Study one point at a time, such as tenses, articles or subject-verb agreement. Find examples in your reading and write a few of your own. Finally, review mistakes and rewrite the sentence correctly.
